Beating the Odds - Muctar's Story

Muctar Kamara grew up in the remote village of Fintonia, where access to education was limited. Prior to 2014 (when Muctar began attending the brand new EduNations Hope Academy Primary School), he had struggled to receive a quality education due to a lack of quality teachers, stability, and building infrastructure.

EduNations Hope Academy provided Muctar with intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and physical growth. Throughout his education, he continued excelling in the classroom and moved from one grade level to the next, beating the odds of many children like him who had not been able to receive the opportunity of education in the past. Muctar also learned about the Christian faith and developed a personal relationship with Christ, which impacted his life significantly, giving him a new meaning of hope.

In 2021, Muctar was among the first class of students attending EduNations’ brand new Senior Secondary Boarding School in the village of Rokassa. Living away from home for the first time was a huge adjustment for Muctar. Initially, he struggled with loneliness as he was living with students from a variety of villages. But over time and under the leadership and love of his house parent, Muctar developed close friendships with his peers. Now, Muctar says that EduNations Boarding School feels like home to him.

This year, Muctar and his peers are the first class of EduNations students graduating from Senior Secondary School! Muctar plans on studying Linguistics and Law after graduation with the hope of becoming a lawyer. Muctar looks forward to using his education and skills to give back to his country: “I want to settle disputes in my country, and fight for the rights of the people.”

He recognizes that he couldn’t have achieved so much without the support of thousands of donors who support EduNations. “I want to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to all those who have restlessly been contributing to the progress of my education,” he says. “I was thinking of how to continue my senior secondary education, but you brought me hope and that has taken me to where I am today. God bless you and he will continue to provide you wealth and good health in Jesus Name.”

Thank you for igniting hope in the lives of students like Muctar, who now have hope for their future!
