On June 27, 2026, students, families, teachers, and staff gathered at EduNations Hope Academy in Rokassa for one of the most anticipated days of the school year: graduation.

This year, 119 students graduated, marking the end of years of hard work and the beginning of what comes next.

The celebration came near the close of another full academic year across EduNations schools. Students completed promotional examinations, and WASSCE students at Rokassa successfully completed their public examinations despite transportation challenges. Schools officially closed for the year on July 17.

For our graduates, however, their final weeks at EduNations included more than a graduation ceremony.

Preparing for What Comes Next

Following graduation, students participated in an internship training program designed to give them practical experience as they prepare for future education and employment.

Graduates took part in four training areas: ITC, personal hygiene and sanitation, tailoring, and home economics.

It was a fitting way to end their time as EduNations students. Graduation celebrates what students have already accomplished, while the training gave them an opportunity to begin thinking about where their skills and education might take them next.

Meet 2026 Graduate Amie Kargbo

Amie began attending EduNations in 2020.

Years before she walked across the graduation stage at Rokassa, Amie shared with us what education had looked like for her growing up. She traveled about three miles to attend school, had limited access to educational resources such as a library, and spent long hours doing farm work. Both of her parents are farmers, and the work helped provide income for their family.

However, Amie wanted to continue her education.

At EduNations, she received free education as well as school uniforms, books, and pens. Then, in 2023, she found out that someone in the United States had chosen to sponsor her. She remembers feeling “happy and overwhelmed with excitement.”

When we asked Amie what that sponsorship meant to her, her answer was simple:

“My sponsorship has given me an assurance that my education will continue…I want to say big thanks and appreciation.”

At the time, Amie was still looking ahead to Senior Secondary School and the opportunity to choose her career pathway. She told us that she had dreamed of becoming an educated person since childhood and was excited to see that dream beginning to take shape.

This June, we got to see Amie reach this milestone as she graduated alongside 118 of her classmates.

Making Graduation Possible for More Students

Amie’s story gives us a chance to look beyond the graduation photos and remember everything that comes before them.

For students in the rural communities EduNations serves, those years can include challenges that make continuing an education difficult. Sponsorship is one way someone can come alongside a student and help provide the consistency and encouragement to keep going.

Amie is already sponsored and is no longer available for sponsorship. But there are younger students at EduNations who are waiting for someone to become part of their story.

When you sponsor a student today, graduation may still be years away. But someday, we hope to be celebrating their name, too.

Congratulations to Amie and all 119 members of EduNations’ Class of 2026 who reached this incredible milestone!
