Completion of Mayatta Teachers' Quarters

On September 20th, the EduNations community in Mayatta gathered to celebrate the completion and dedication of the new Teachers' Quarters. Following Sunday's church service, teachers, students, staff, church members, and community members gathered outside the newly completed building. Together, they prayed over the building and teachers, cut the ribbon, and celebrated what this new housing will mean for teachers serving in Mayatta.
Finding suitable housing is often a significant challenge for teachers serving in rural communities like Mayatta. Often, teachers are left to find their own housing arrangements with families in the community. The Mayatta Teachers' Quarters were built in response to that need and now provide teachers with safe and comfortable housing close to the school. This project will not only provide physical accommodation, but will also be an investment in the well-being of teachers and the sustainability of education in Mayatta.
The following message after the dedication ceremony captured just how meaningful the day was:
"The teachers' quarters are a dream come true, as housing has been a major challenge in rural communities. This building can help solve many problems our teachers were facing."
From Construction to Celebration
Throughout the past year, supporters have had opportunities to watch the Mayatta Teachers' Quarters take shape. What began with only a foundation gradually became walls, a roof, finished rooms, and ultimately a place to welcome Mayatta's teachers. Like many construction projects in rural Sierra Leone, the project required patience and persistence. But little by little, the building moved closer to completion.
On September 20th, the construction site became a setting for celebration. There was excitement and thanksgiving throughout the community, along with a strong sense of achievement. The celebration marked the fulfillment of a long-standing need for teachers and community members.

This milestone belongs to more than those who gathered in Mayatta on Sunday. It also represents the generosity, prayers, and faithful support of our churches, donors, board members, staff, and friends who have come alongside EduNations. Your generosity has become tangible in Mayatta through a place teachers can call home.
We are also thankful for the many EduNations staff members in Sierra Leone who helped see the Teachers' Quarters through to completion. Most of all, we praise God for His faithfulness throughout the process and for all the people He has brought together around the shared work of educating the next generation in Sierra Leone.
