From Fintonia to the Frontlines of Change:
Tejan's Story

My name is Tejan P. Kamara, and I am a proud graduating student of EduNations Hope Academy in Rokassa. I am completing Senior Secondary School 3 (Arts). I come from the remote village of Fintonia, located in the Tambaka Chiefdom—a community deeply rooted in Muslim traditions. I am one of ten siblings in a polygamous household, where both of my mothers live together under one roof.

Life in Fintonia was not easy. My parents are hardworking farmers, but the financial burden of education was often too much to bear. I began my schooling at Roman Catholic Primary School in Kabba Ferry, but my education was frequently interrupted due to a lack of funds.

Everything changed when I got the opportunity to attend EduNations in Prep 3. From that moment, my life began to transform.

As I advanced through school, I moved to Rokassa and joined the EduNations Boarding Home. This experience not only shaped me academically but also spiritually. My performance improved dramatically, and I began to discover my leadership potential. Today, I serve as the Head Boy of EduNations Hope Academy Senior Secondary School—a role I have embraced with pride and responsibility.

Yet, the most profound change in my life has been in my faith. Coming from a community where Islam is the dominant religion, converting to Christianity was virtually unheard of. I myself was once a devout Muslim. But through chapel services, discipleship classes, and the love and example of the EduNations community, I came to know Jesus Christ. Today, I boldly declare myself a follower of Christ. That decision has given me a true sense of identity and purpose.

My journey has become a source of inspiration for other young people in Fintonia. Through EduNations, I have grown into a role model and mentor to peers who, like me, once felt directionless. I now understand that I was not born just to survive life—but to make an impact.

After graduation, I hope to study Political Science. I believe God is calling me to be a leader—not only for Fintonia, but for Sierra Leone as a whole. I want to be a voice for my people, especially the youth, who are still waiting for someone to believe in them and fight for their future.

To EduNations, I say thank you. You didn’t just educate me—you raised a leader, a believer, and a light in a dark place. My future is bright because you chose to invest in me.
