Hassan Tarawalie's life has been marked by profound loss, hardship, and resilience.

Born into a family of six children in the village of Fintonia, Hassan never had the opportunity to grow up with his father. When he was still very young, his father passed away. Just months later, he suffered another devastating loss when his older brother died as well. In his culture, the eldest brother often assumes the role of a father when a father is absent, so losing his brother meant losing another source of guidance, protection, and support.

When Hassan's mother remarried, he hoped life would finally become easier. The family believed that a stepfather would help shoulder their burdens and provide the care they desperately needed. Instead, the opposite happened. Hassan's stepfather chose not to love or support the children as his own. Eventually, his mother also drifted away and abandoned them.

Without parents to care for him and no family resources to rely on, Hassan was forced to leave school. For four years, he lived without the opportunity to learn, his dreams slipping further out of reach each day. To survive, he worked as a fisherman on the Kabba Ferry River crossing, where travelers pass through on their way to Fintonia.

Then one day, everything changed.

A woman from Fintonia noticed Hassan and took compassion on him. She asked about his situation and told him about EduNations. She encouraged him to return to school and pursue an education. Though the challenge seemed daunting, Hassan accepted her advice and took a courageous step toward a new future.

He enrolled in junior secondary school through EduNations and began rebuilding the life he thought he had lost. Today, Hassan is a Science student in Senior Secondary School and lives in the EduNations Boarding School in Rokassa.

For a young man who had been abandoned, EduNations became much more than a school. It became God's answer to years of suffering and loss. With no father, no supportive stepfather, and no older brother to help him navigate life, Hassan found a place where he was welcomed, cared for, and given the opportunity to succeed.

The gift of a quality education has transformed his life. Through the generosity of EduNations supporters and now the commitment of a caring sponsor, Hassan no longer carries the weight of his future alone. He has people who believe in him, pray for him, and are investing in the person he is becoming.

For someone who once struggled simply to survive, the opportunity to focus on learning while receiving the care, support, and encouragement he needs has been life-changing. What seemed impossible just a few years ago is now becoming reality.

Reflecting on his journey, Hassan shares:

"EduNations restored my hope. That EduNations exists is one of the greatest gifts God has given me—the belief that my future could indeed change. For four years, I had abandoned the idea that I would ever become an educated man. I merely survived after my mother's abandonment and the loss of my father and older brother. My chances of ever succeeding seemed impossible. I had truly suffered.

"Today, I have a place to sleep. I have friends, teachers, and an atmosphere of love surrounding me. I am being educated with discipline. I have a uniform, a notebook, and a pen to write with. Above all, God has given me a family here—not by blood, but with a big heart that believes in me. Being here is proof that God never forgets anyone."

Today, Hassan's story stands as a powerful reminder that hope can be restored, lives can be transformed, and God often works through the compassion of others. A young man who once spent his days fishing to survive is now preparing for a future filled with opportunity. Thanks to EduNations and the faithful support of his sponsor, Hassan is no longer merely surviving—he is thriving, pursuing his education, and building a future that once seemed beyond reach.

His story is proof that when someone chooses to invest in a child, they do more than provide an education. They help restore hope, renew dignity, and remind a young person that they are seen, valued, and loved.
