Boards of Governors, while a legal requirement in Sierra Leone, also play an important strategic role in effective school management and in garnering ongoing community support. While conducting regular board meetings complies with Sierra Leone’s Education Act of 2004, we work so that the Boards help the school principal and staff provide the best possible education for all of the pupils.

EduNations, as the school owner and operator, nominates a member to the Board while other members are appointed by the Ministry of Education. In addition to the usual oversight functions, the Boards encourage and support high standards of academic achievement, strategic and operational plans, and staff development.

The Deputy Director of Education from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Paramount Chief, and local authorities were in attendance at all the meetings. Although an additional duty, EduNations sees these Boards as yet another way of engaging community leaders to promote the success of our schools and our students.

Attached are photos during and after the Board meeting at EduNations Hope Academy Junior Secondary School Gbenekoro.
