Mabinty Kamara is an 18-year-old eleventh-grade student at EduNations Hope Academy Senior Secondary School in the Rokassa community, where she studies social and cultural studies. She comes from the remote village of Fintonia in northeastern Sierra Leone and was born into a low-income Muslim family. Her parents, both small-scale farmers, have always done their best to care for her—but their limited resources made it difficult to meet her most basic needs, especially as a child living with sickle cell disease.
For years, Mabinty struggled. Without access to nutritious food, proper shelter, or consistent medical care, her health remained fragile and her future uncertain. Then in 2023, Mabinty’s life took a dramatic turn when she was accepted into the EduNations Boarding Program.
Everything changed.
At the EduNations Boarding Home, Mabinty finally received the care and stability she needed. She now enjoys three balanced meals a day, has access to quality medical treatment for her sickle cell condition, and sleeps in a clean, safe, and supportive environment. Beyond her physical needs, the boarding home has become a place of community and belonging—where she participates in daily activities, forms friendships, and thrives in a structured, nurturing space.
Mabinty is also one of the students who is fully sponsored—both her education and her place in the boarding home are made possible through the generous support of individuals who believe in her potential. This sponsorship has lifted an enormous burden from her family and opened doors that once felt impossibly far away.
As a result, Mabinty’s health has significantly improved. She is no longer battling daily weakness and fatigue. Today, she is healthy, strong, and full of life—fully engaged in her education and extracurricular life at school.
The Boarding Program hasn’t only impacted her body; it has changed her heart. Through the influence of staff and peers, Mabinty came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She credits the EduNations Boarding Home and the EPC family—both in Sierra Leone and the United States—for leading her to faith. Her life, she says, has never been the same. Now a passionate follower of Jesus, Mabinty is committed to sharing the good news with her family.
She is deeply grateful to the donors who made this transformation possible. "Thank you for restoring my life," she says. "You brought hope to me and my family."
Mabinty’s dream is to become a lawyer—and thanks to the EduNations Boarding Program and the faithful support behind it, she is well on her way.
