Paul's Story After a Life-Changing Injury

Paul Kaprie Bangura knows what it means to keep going when life takes an unexpected turn.
Paul lives with his father in Makoi Village. His mother passed away when he was very young, and his father works as a farmer and sells palm wine to provide for Paul and his four siblings.
When Paul was a young boy, his life changed dramatically. While picking fruit from a mango tree, he fell and severely injured his right arm. His family initially sought traditional treatment, but his condition worsened. By the time Paul was taken to the hospital, the injury had become too severe and doctors had to amputate his arm.
It was a life-changing injury, but it did not change Paul’s desire to learn or his determination to build a future.
A PLACE TO GROW
Before joining EduNations, Paul attended a community school where teachers rarely attended classes consistently. Without dependable instruction, it was difficult for him to make progress.
Paul joined EduNations in Class 4 at Mayatta School. Today, he attends Mapainda Junior Secondary School, where consistent teachers and a supportive school community have given him an environment where he can continue growing.
His favorite subject is Social Studies because he enjoys learning more about his environment and the world around him.
Reflecting on his experience at school, Paul shared:

THE JOURNEY TO SCHOOL
From Makoi Village, the route to school changes depending on the season. During the dry season, Paul travels about four miles each way. But when the river is full during the rainy season, the route becomes approximately 10 miles each way.
A bicycle provided through EduNations has made that journey more manageable, helping Paul attend school consistently and arrive on time.
FORMING STRONG FRIENDSHIPS
Attending EduNations has connected Paul with students from different communities and given him the opportunity to form meaningful friendships.
While in Junior Secondary School, he met fellow student Ibrahim Kargbo, and over time, they have become like brothers. They encourage each other to stay focused on their studies, work hard, and keep pursuing their goals.
As Paul looks toward the future, he has a clear goal of becoming a lawyer.
Paul hopes to advocate for justice, defend the rights of vulnerable people, and use his education to make a difference in his community. After experiencing significant challenges in his own life, Paul is looking ahead to a future where he can stand up for others.
MOVING FORWARD
Paul’s story isn't defined by the injury that changed his life. Rather, it is shaped by what he continues to do afterward.
He continues to learn, travel to school, and make progress toward his goals. And he is motivated by imagining how his own education might someday allow him to serve others.
Speaking to the many people who support EduNations, Paul shared:
“Thank you for believing in students like me and investing in our education. Your generosity has given me opportunities that I never imagined possible. Because of your support, I can continue pursuing my dreams despite the challenges I have faced. I promise to work hard, make the most of this opportunity, and one day give back to my community. May God richly bless you for changing lives like mine.”
At EduNations, we believe education is about the whole child. We intentionally create space for students to learn, grow in confidence, build meaningful relationships, and discover how God might use their lives to impact others.
For Paul, the road ahead may still hold challenges. But he is moving forward with determination, surrounded by people who believe in his potential and give him hope for the future.
