Rising Above: Isatu’s Story of Hope and Determination
At just 14 years old, Isatu G. Conteh—a Class 4 student from Maforaybab Village, located three miles from Rokassa—embodies resilience, courage, and hope. As the second of six children in a farming family, life has never been easy. But even in the face of hardship, Isatu’s resolve to build a brighter future has never wavered.
Raised in a Muslim home, Isatu’s journey took a powerful turn when she joined the EduNations school. There, she not only grew in knowledge but also encountered the love of Jesus Christ. Through the care of her teachers and the Christian community around her, Isatu has come to faith and now attends the EPC church with joy and conviction—a living testimony to the transformation that can take root when love and education are shared freely.
Each school day, Isatu walks six miles round-trip—a path marked by hunger, fatigue, and the temptation to give up. There were days she considered leaving school, especially when there was no food at home or nothing to eat for lunch. But even in those dark moments, God provided a way. Through it all, Isatu has remained a diligent student, earning praise from her teachers for her outstanding performance and determination.
Isatu dreams of becoming a medical doctor—a calling she holds close to her heart. With prayer and perseverance, she hopes to one day bring healing and hope to communities like her own where medical care is desperately needed.
Today, Isatu’s life reflects the mission of EduNations: to educate minds, nurture hearts, and transform futures. Her story reminds us all that with faith, love, and opportunity, even the most difficult paths can lead to incredible destinations.
