Latrines and Sanitation Project: Creating Clean and Dignified School Environments

EduNations’ Latrines and Sanitation Project ensures that students in rural Sierra Leone have access to safe, clean, and private sanitation facilities—a critical component of both health and dignity. In communities where proper sanitation is often lacking, the construction of latrine blocks on school campuses significantly improves the daily school experience for students and staff.

These facilities reduce the spread of communicable diseases, promote better hygiene practices, and help prevent students—especially girls—from missing school due to a lack of private, sanitary restrooms. Latrine designs are tailored to serve large student populations and are built with durability, safety, and accessibility in mind.

Complementing the latrines are handwashing stations, strategically placed to encourage routine hygiene habits. Together, these sanitation solutions foster a healthier school environment, lower absenteeism, and instill lifelong habits that students carry into their homes and communities.
