EduNations’ Female Sanitary Kits Initiative supports adolescent girls in rural Sierra Leone by providing access to reusable menstrual hygiene supplies and menstrual health education. This ongoing program helps ensure that girls can attend school with dignity, confidence, and consistency throughout the month.
Lack of access to sanitary products and proper hygiene education has been one of the leading causes of school absenteeism for girls—many of whom miss 3–5 days of class each month during their menstrual cycle. In areas where disposable products are scarce or unaffordable, reusable kits offer a sustainable and culturally appropriate solution.
Through partnerships with dedicated volunteers and organizations, EduNations distributes reusable sanitary kits that include items such as cloth pads, underwear, soap, and washable storage pouches. Each kit is designed to last up to two years, helping girls manage their periods safely and affordably. Alongside the kits, girls receive menstrual health education that breaks down cultural stigma and empowers them with knowledge and self-confidence.
This initiative is more than just a hygiene solution—it is a key part of EduNations’ mission to create opportunities for every child. By supporting girls through puberty and keeping them in school, we are investing in their future, improving educational outcomes, and advancing gender equality in some of the most underserved communities in Sierra Leone.
