Access to Clean Water Project: Providing Safe and Sustainable Water Solutions
EduNations’ Access to Clean Water Project addresses one of the most urgent needs in rural Sierra Leone—reliable access to clean, safe drinking water. This project combines the construction of borehole wells and the implementation of sustainable rainwater harvesting systems to provide consistent water sources for our schools and surrounding communities.
In areas where families often rely on contaminated or distant water sources, these solutions have a transformative impact. Clean water reduces the risk of waterborne illnesses, supports better hygiene practices, and eliminates the long walks—especially for girls—that once kept students out of the classroom.
The project is designed with long-term sustainability in mind. Wells are built to serve large groups of students and residents, while rainwater harvesting systems provide a valuable backup during the dry season. Both systems are maintained by trained local teams, ensuring that clean water remains available year-round.
By delivering safe, accessible, and sustainable water solutions, the Access to Clean Water Project not only supports student health and academic success but also strengthens the entire community's quality of life and resilience.
