EduNations WASH Program: Building Healthier Futures Through Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene
EduNations’ WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) Program is making a life-changing impact in rural Sierra Leone by improving health, increasing school attendance, and enhancing the overall well-being of students and their communities.
At the heart of the program is the commitment to clean water access. EduNations installs wells and sustainable water harvesting systems to provide safe, reliable drinking water in areas where families often rely on contaminated sources. These water solutions help prevent waterborne diseases and eliminate the long, daily journeys—often made by girls—to fetch water, allowing students to stay in school and concentrate on their education.
The WASH program also addresses sanitation needs by constructing latrines and handwashing stations on school campuses. Combined with hygiene education, students learn critical practices like regular handwashing and personal cleanliness, which reduce the spread of illness and foster lifelong health habits.
By creating clean, safe school environments, the WASH program does more than improve academic outcomes—it supports stronger, healthier communities. It empowers students to thrive and lays a foundation for long-term community transformation through improved public health and opportunity.
